Hayward, WI. (October 25, 2024) – Championships Dates Due to scheduling conflicts with key competition vendors, The Lumberjack World Championships is changing the dates of the event to ensure we continue to provide the highest quality competition to athletes and spectators.

The 65th Annual Lumberjack World Championships will now take place July 17-19, 2025. The Lumberjack Run will take place on Championship Saturday morning, July 19th.

Lumberjack World Championships athletes compete in a combined twenty-four events, including, logrolling, boom running, sawing, chopping, axe throwing, and speed climbing. Information on each unique timber sports discipline is available at www.lumberjackbowl.com.

Lumberjacks and lumberjills remember their friend and fellow competitor, Jason Wynyard, who passed away in October of 2023. He will forever live on in the world of timbersports.

CHARLIE BERENS is a comedian, New York Times Best Selling Author, Emmy-winning journalist, musician and creator of the Manitowoc Minute. He creates weekly content for his various social platforms and has amassed over 9 million followers.

In 2017, Charlie began hosting his weekly comedic online news show, the Manitowoc Minute. Since then, Charlie’s been creating Midwest-focused sketch comedy videos on his social media platforms. He has traveled the country with three sold out stand-up comedy tours.

In 2020, Charlie paired up with Horseshoes & Hand Grenades alum Adam Greuel to release the music/comedy album, Unthawed. The album, which is a mixture of bluegrass, country, and Charlie’s comedy, climbed to #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass chart and #6 on the Bluegrass Comedy chart. The duo followed that up with Dive Bar Dinner in 2023, which also charted on the Billboard Charts.

Charlie’s first book, The Midwest Survival Guide, was released in November of 2021 by William Morrow/Harper Collins and immediately became a New York Times Best Seller. ABC is currently developing a half-hour comedy based on the book. His Midwest Survival Guide Tour sold over 150,000 tickets!

2023 also saw the release of his first stand-up special, Charlie Berens: Midwest Goodbye.

Charlie just launched his very own brandy. Berens Old Fashioned Brandy is being producing by the Dancing Goat distillery and is in stores now!

Charlie hosts the Cripescast podcast where he interviews musicians, artists, comedians, creators and more to talk about their story and connections to the Midwest. Guests have included Nate Bargatze, Michael Yo, Kim and Penn Holderness, Jeff Foxworthy, and Roy Wood, Jr.

In addition to Cripescast, Charlie co-hosts the Bellied Up podcast with Myles the You Betcha guy. Every Thursday, Charlie and Myles belly up at a small town bar and answer live callers from the Midwest and beyond.

Charlie is currently touring North America on his Good Old Fashioned Tour.

For over 64 years, Hayward, Wisconsin, has been home to the greatest and most prestigious lumberjack and lumberjill competition worldwide, the Lumberjack World Championships (LWC). The American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation (ABSF) has been managing the event since 2017, in collaboration with the LWC Board of Directors.  

“We are so excited to host Charlie Berens right here in Hayward,” said LWC Event Director Samantha (Sam) LaSalle. “We have three exciting days of competition starting Thursday morning, and bringing in Wisconsin’s premiere comedy act on Wednesday night is a terrific way start celebrations.” Sam grew up in Hayward and has been log rolling since she was five years old and has been competing for an impressive 25 years at the Lumberjack World Championships. She has competed in the women’s boom run, log rolling, Jack & Jill double buck sawing, and Jill & Jill double buck sawing. Her husband, Adam LaSalle, has also been competing for 20 years as a lumberjack. The two live and breathe lumberjack sports, making Sam an ideal fit to continue the generations-old tradition of the Lumberjack World Championships.
